In The Loved Ones, Erica Murray's new play, three women are thrown together by force of circumstance – all linked by one man, Robin, who has died six months earlier in London. RTÉ Arena takes a deep dive above.

They are Nell, his mother, played by Jane Brennan, in whose kitchen in west Clare the drama takes place. Gabby, a young university student, who arrives from London out of the blue, seven months pregnant with Robin’s child. Orla, his wife, played by Grainne Keenan, home from London with his ashes, and completely unaware he’s been having an affair.

There is also a fourth character, Cheryl-Ann, played by Helen Norton, an American tourist who is Nell’s Airbnb guest...

The Loved Ones is a new Rough Magic production at the Gate Theatre, running until October 21st as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival - find out more here, and listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
