The second trailer for the Timothée Chalamet-starring Wonka has been released ahead of the much-anticipated film's arrival in Irish cinemas in December.

The synopsis for Wonka reads: "Based on the extraordinary character at the centre of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl's most iconic children's book and one of the best-selling children's books of all time, Wonka tells the wondrous story of how the world's greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today."

The cast of Wonka also includes Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant, Natasha Rothwell, Rich Fulcher, Rakhee Thakrar, Tom Davis and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.

Directed by Paddington's Paul King with a screenplay by King and his Paddington 2 co-writer Simon Farnaby, Wonka opens in Irish cinemas on Friday 8 December.
