TedFest, the annual festival that celebrates classic TV comedy series Father Ted, has announced that it is to return to the island of Inis Mór next March.

The four-day event will take place on Thursday 7 March to Sunday 10 March 2024 and sees the Aran Island representing the iconic series' setting of Craggy Island.

The tongue-in-cheek festival will feature events inspired by the show, including a Lovely Girls Competition, Ted's Got Talent, The Father Ted Prizeless Quiz, a Priest Dance-Off, a "screeching competition in a very dark cave", as well as Blind Date and Best Dressed competitions.

Also returning will be The Comedy Craic Den and charity trad sessions, with events mainly based in the Aran Islands Hotel.

Attendees are encouraged to wear Father Ted-themed fancy dress throughout the weekend.

The festival was founded in 2007 by a group of fans who wanted to organise a get-together to celebrate the show, with the event now usually attracting 400 attendees annually.

2023's TedFest paid special tribute to the late Dermot Morgan, who played Ted in the series, and who passed away 25 years ago last year. Family members of the late actor have been involved in TedFest over the years.

Earlybird tickets are on sale now for €185 at tedfest.org.
