Evan Ferguson stroked home a quality effort to help 10-man Brighton end their six-game winless run in the Premier League by beating Nottingham Forest 3-2 in a drama-filled encounter at the City Ground.

PREMIER LEAGUE TABLE

Injuries and their Europa League exertions had caught up with the Seagulls as they last won against Bournemouth at the end of September, but they put that right in testing circumstances.

They fell behind to Anthony Elanga's early opener but were in total control Ferguson's fine goal from the edge of the area and Joao Pedro's double put them 3-1 up.

But the complexion of the game changed when VAR advised referee Anthony Taylor to give Forest a penalty, with Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk seeing red for his over-zealous protest.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored from the spot but Forest could not find a leveller and Brighton held on for a much-needed win, which keeps them on the shoulder of the top seven.

Chiedozie Ogbene (R) celebrates with Jacob Brown

Chiedozie Ogbene produced another barnstorming performance to help struggling Luton Town secure a precious 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

It's the Hatters' first home win of the campaign, and was very gratefully received.

Teden Mengi put Luton ahead on 72 minutes but Palace were level shortly afterwards when Michael Olise scored his first goal since January with a brilliant equaliser.

At that stage the visitors looked the more likely to go on and win it, but Jacob Brown took advantage of indecision in the Palace defence after Ogbene swung in a cross, and he prodded the ball into the back of the net for his first Premier League goal.

Luton stay in 17th place with nine points from 13 games, but have opened up a four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone. Palace have now lost four of their last five Premier League games in a row and lie in 13th with 15 points.

Tomas Soucek broke Burnley hearts

Burnley's wait for their first home points of the season continued as they conceded twice late on to lose 2-1 to West Ham United.

It seemed the Turf Moor faithful would finally have something to cheer as the hosts deservedly led through a Jay Rodriguez penalty just after the interval.

But West Ham, disappointing in the opening half, woke up and equalised in the 86th minute when a cross by Mohammed Kudus glanced in off Ireland defender Dara O'Shea.

It got worse for Burnley in the first minute of stoppage time when Tomas Soucek was left unmarked to steer in a far-post finish to give the visitors three points.

Burnley, whose four points have all come away from home, remain bottom on goal difference from Everton who host Manchester United on Sunday in their first game since having 10 points deducted.

Winger Marcus Tavernier netted twice as Bournemouth put in an assured performance to beat sluggish Sheffield United 3-1 at Bramall Lane and claim a third league win in four games.

Bournemouth had a lively start and scored the opener in the 12th minute with a well-worked goal when Antoine Semenyo drifted in from the right and played in Tavernier, whose side-footed shot found the bottom corner.

The visitors doubled their advantage just before the break with the help of a goalkeeping howler from Wes Foderingham, who failed to control the ball on the edge of his own area, allowing Justin Kluivert to score from a tight angle.

United's afternoon went from bad to worse when Tavernier ghosted in at the far post to tap in a third, and though Oli McBurnie netted an added-time consolation goal, the damage was done as Andoni Iraola's resurgent Bournemouth claimed victory.
