Oisin O'Callaghan claimed gold in the men's downhill final at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Series, leading home and Irish one-two with Ronan Dunne taking silver.

The 20-year-old O'Callaghan produced the best performance of his fledgling career to claim victory in Snowshow, West Virginia, his first World Cup victory.

With Dunne setting the time to beat in his run, 3:08.120, O'Callaghan was always going to have to produce something special and he completed the testing track in a time of 3:07.624.

O'Callaghan had to sweat with Loic Bruni still to go, but the Frenchman came off his bike early into his run, confirming gold and silver for Ireland.

American veteran Dakotah Norton rounded out the podium places, taking bronze.
