The jury at a trial in Limerick has been told it can discharge its duties in respect of one of three men accused of assaulting another man and violent disorder.

Following legal argument for much of this morning, and having considered matters, Judge Dermot Sheehan told the jury that it was no longer to consider the charges levelled against 22-year-old Jai Chaudri, from Killdimo in Co Limerick.

He was one of three men before Limerick Circuit Court, including 25-year-old All-Ireland winning Limerick hurler Kyle Hayes, from Kildimo, and Craig Cosgrave, 24, from Grange, Co Limerick.

Mr Hayes is charged with assault causing harm to Cillian McCarthy at the Icon nightclub in Limerick on 28 October 2019 and two charges of violent assault both inside and outside the club that night.

Mr Cosgrave faces a charge of violent assault on the same night.

The trial is continuing before a jury of seven men and five women.
