200 new jobs are to be created in Dundalk by electrical engineering firm Anord Mardix.

The company has announced a €27 million investment in the area, which includes the construction of a new facility and an upgrade to its existing site.

The new 120,000 sq/ft facility will completed over two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed in the first three months of 2024.

Anord Mardix says the expansion will create up to 200 jobs in addition to the 380 employees already in Dundalk.

The new roles will include production and manufacturing roles, as well as engineering roles, management and operations staff.

The company says the investment reflects the firm's continued ambition for expansion in the North East.

Managing director James Peacock said it was an exciting time for the business: "We are experiencing global commercial growth at an exponential rate. This expansion will only strengthen the Group's capability to meet demand for our market leading critical power products and services both in Ireland and around the world."

The company is a manufacturer of critical power solutions for the data centre sector and has been operating in Dundalk since 1970.
