Science Week draws to a close this weekend after hundreds of events on the theme of what it means to be human in today's world, and how the decisions we make today, will impact humans of the future.

But many science projects still draw inspiration from the humans of the past.

Scientists from NatPro, the Centre for Natural Products Research at Trinity College Dublin, are doing just that.

They are attempting to harness the untapped therapeutic and commercial uses of native Irish bog plants, using the written records of school children growing up in 1930s Ireland as a starting point.

The groundbreaking project aims to 'unlock nature's pharmacy' and ultimately deliver new medicines to market.
