Watch: 'Virtually certain' 2023 will be hottest year ever

Last month was the warmest October on record, European Union scientists have said.

Soaring temperatures across the planet mean its now "virtually certain" that 2023 will be the hottest year ever.

The "exceptional temperature anomalies" are the result of continued greenhouse gas emissions from human activity, combined with the emergence this year of the El Nino weather pattern.
